First Aid for Babies and Toddlers
In homes where there are small children, safety is an important issue. Parents want to protect their children from all potential dangers and will most often take steps to make their home as safe an environment as possible.
Unfortunately, despite one’s best efforts, accidents may still happen. Of the accidents that cause these injuries, half occur in the home. When they do, parents or guardians will need to be prepared to take the necessary action; this is where First Aid for Babies and Toddlers come in.
This class is taught in your homes for now.

What you will learn?
The First Aid for Babies and Toddlers courses are extremely practical and you will have hands-on experience with baby and child manikins.
The First Aid for babies course focuses on all aspects of First Aid crucial for those looking after a new baby; we will help you to keep your baby safe and prepare you with the skills and confidence to be able to help in a medical emergency. You will learn the priorities if your baby appears to be unconscious and to quickly establish if they are breathing or not and understand the best time go to the hospital.
We will have practical sessions on the recovery position for babies and teach you how to do CPR for an infant as well as how to help your baby if they choke; in preparation for weaning. We will cover key topics such as head injuries in babies, burns and febrile convulsions.
The First Aid for toddlers course encompasses key first aid emergencies as little ones become more mobile and inquisitive. You will start with life threatening emergencies and practice CPR, recovery position and choking. We will equip you with the skills to cope with a child who has hurt themselves and is bleeding. You will learn what to do and what to look out for if your child hits their head and how to cope if they have a major fall. We will cover burns, poisons, fitting (convulsions) and how to help if they are electrocuted.

• Foreign objects in nose and ear

• Allergies and anaphylaxis
• Medical conditions such as fever, febrile convulsions and meningitis
• What to put in your First Aid Kit
This 3 – 4 hour class will give you the skills and confidence to deal with all the above and more!
Assessment and certification
The cost of the Learn First Aid for Babies and Toddlers Class is N25,000 for Parents only; N30,000 for locations past Victoria Island. With Grandparents or additional people included, it costs an additional N5,000 per person.
